Metro Vancouver detached prices fall in September

Metro Vancouver detached prices declined in September 2022, as market activity continued decline in the face of rising interest rates.

The OpenHousing Home Price Index for detached properties – calculated using the generally-accepted and transparent repeat sales or Case-Shiller method1 – fell 4.73% year-over-year, the September month-end update shows. This represents an increase of 1.53% compared to August.

The sales to new listings (SNL) ratio for detached stands at 28, indicating a buyers market.

The OpenHousing Home Price Index covers Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, West Vancouver, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Delta, Surrey, Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, Lions Bay, Bower Island, Anmore, and Belcarra, Langley and White Rock. Data for Vancouver also include University British Columbia and University Endowment Lands.
